Performance Analysis of De-noising in Medical Images using Wiener Filter

Abstract

Abstract: Image processing is a wide area in which a variety of researches are being carried out. The main aim of Digital Image Processing is to improve the quality of images. A variety of researches are performed in digital and medical image processing. Noises play a vital role in degrading the quality of both medical and digital images. These noises affect CT images, MRI images and X-Ray images. Median filter performs well and is used in many image processing techniques. But, for medical images like CT, MRI and X-Ray, Wiener filter outperforms Median Filter. Different noises like speckle noise, Gaussian noise, salt and pepper noise and Poisson noise are taken into consideration. 90% of noise from the corrupted medical images can be eliminated by using Wiener filter.
