Abstract: Due to the portable and mobile characteristics of
Bluetooth devices, the restoration and rerouting of routes in a
Bluetooth scatternet are crucial to support network survivability.
In this paper, the restoration and rerouting protocols for
Bluetooth scatternet with portable/mobile devices are presented.
First, the approach of detecting device movement was
demonstrated. With the ability of detecting device movement, the
proposed rerouting and restoration protocols are responsible for
dealing with the device movement to maintain high survivability
of scatternet routes in Bluetooth networks. Finally, a simulation
study was conducted to verify and evaluate the proposed
protocols. The simulation results show that the rerouting and
restoration protocols can successfully cope with the device
movement and the proposed protocols can achieve better
performance on the square scatternet than on the rectangular
scatternet.
